How long does the Employment Pass process take?

Last updated: May 15, 2026

Employment Pass processing timelines are set by the Immigration Department of Malaysia and are outside MalayHire's control. Typical timelines are:

  • Standard processing — 4 to 8 weeks from submission of a complete application
  • Expedited processing (where available) — 1 to 2 weeks; available for certain categories and subject to the Immigration Department's discretion
  • Rejection and resubmission — if an application is rejected, resubmission after addressing the grounds of rejection typically adds another 4 to 8 weeks

MalayHire will prepare and submit the complete application package on your behalf, including the employment contract, supporting documents, and any required endorsements. Delays most commonly occur due to incomplete documentation or queries raised by the Immigration Department — MalayHire monitors each application and follows up proactively.

We recommend initiating the EP process at least 8 weeks before the intended start date to account for potential delays.
